Paan shake: the recipe, made with paan sharbat
The paan shake of Indian street stalls, made at home in two minutes with paan sharbat, milk and ice cream.
The paan shake is the after-dinner drink of Indian street stalls: everything a meetha paan tastes of, blended cold. Made with paan sharbat — also written pan sharbat — it needs no leaves to grind and no special equipment.
Ingredients
• 40 ml paan sharbat
• 250 ml chilled milk
• 1 scoop vanilla ice cream
• 1 teaspoon rose gulkand (optional)
• 4–5 ice cubes
Method
1. Put the paan sharbat, milk, ice cream, gulkand and ice in a blender.
2. Blend for 30 seconds until smooth.
3. Pour into a chilled glass and serve at once.
Tips
A teaspoon of gulkand is what gives the stall version its rose note. For a simple cooler instead of a shake, mix 30 ml of paan sharbat with 200 ml of chilled soda. Made with our Paan Sharbat, which ships anywhere in India for a flat ₹39.
